Introduction

I was introduced to the writing group by Alicia. She and I met, almost 20 years ago, on an online Hurricanes hockey forum. And I’ve been bothering her ever since. :D

Probably one of the most important things about me is that I’m an identical twin. I love her more than anything else in this world, and I’m grateful that I was born with her as my best friend.

I love animals of all kinds, and it seems to be my lot in life to rescue fur friends in desperate situations. We are currently caring for nine cats who began as strays.(Photo of one of the kittens we were able to catch - her name is Dusty Jo.)  Our family just takes on whatever wanders up in need of help.

I sew, I knit, I draw with my sister (who is an incredible artist), I have a small herd of film cameras; I listen to all kinds of music, but punk is what saved me. ( The Clash forever <3) My stupid special power is that I can organize anything, and I’ve been known to straighten store displays if I’m not shooed away. I love tiny houses, and butterfly and bee gardens, and stuffing the local food pantry with goodies.

My twin and I are disabled, which we stay  frustrated about. We’ve both been sick for a long time, but we’ve never gotten used to it. I resent that my physical limitations are allowed to define me. We both have Sjögren’s Syndrome,( possibly Ehlers Danlos as well), and some other things that can go along with autoimmune disease.

  1. One of the most amazing things about blogging for me is how many commonalities we all share. I too am a rescuer most likely because no one rescued me. We currently have 5 bottle babies, one Mama cat and her three 4-month-old babies, two 5-month-old kittens (one is adopted and leaving for her new home in 10 days) aling with our 5 former fosters turned family cats and a 20-year-old newly adopted cat who was at a local shelter having lost his Mom to which my brain said no. Are we insane? No, it’s pretty quiet here except for feeding time for the 3-week-old kittens. We’re busy cleaning and socializing with them to grow nice cats. Oh, we also have. Chihuahua, and two beehives - first-year beekeeper here. (Save the planet!)

Looking forward to reading your blogs and getting to know you better!

  2. I've noticed that it is often the people who have dealt with or are currently dealing with significant challenges who give of themselves the most. We certainly don't want to wish hardships upon ourselves or others, but there is some comfort is knowing that empathy and compassion grow in response to difficulties. Wishing the best for you and your sister, as well as all the critters you take under your wing.

  3. I know most, if not all, of these things about you, and I could still read about them over and over again like it was the first time. I like to hear your stories and would just hang on your every word. I'm not even being facetious (everybody look that word up)!!

  4. So now I want to see some drawings, or photos from your "heard of cameras". I find it interesting that the GBE just seemed to start right where it left off. Like 20 years was nothing!
